　某处简陋公寓，发现一具数月前死亡的女性尸体。事后死者被屋中十几只饥饿的猫啃噬，惨不忍睹。经警方初步判定，这个名叫铃木阳子的女人系典型的孤独死，可是负责此案的女警官奥贯绫乃（小西真奈美 饰）却有不同的看法、现场的蛛丝马迹显示，阳子之死另有隐情。镜头回溯，我们看到阳子（尾野真千子 饰）跌宕黯淡的一生，她从小不受母亲待见，长大后独自前往东京发展，为了多卖一份保险饱受凌辱。后来，遇人不淑的阳子邂逅利用游民骗取生活补助的神代武（安田显 饰），由此推开了通往地狱的大门。每走一步，阳子都是在绝望地和过去的自己决裂……本片根据叶真中显的同名小说改编。
